Red Carpet Recap: 2010 Emmys

The Emmys are always kind of a strange show, in my opinion. They aren’t as glamorous as the Oscars, nor as intimate as the Globes. They aren’t very surprising or revolutionary, especially when it comes to who wins categories. But for some reason, I love watching them. Maybe it’s because I always feel unprepared when I watch the Oscars — I don’t see enough movies during the year to really have good opinions about who should win; with the Emmys, I feel like I know the shows, I know the people, and I know who deserves the win.

Last night’s show was an interesting one. While the actors and programs I thought should have won didn’t, I was still happy to see that the winners weren’t ones who had been awarded the Emmy for years. I mean, how many times did Alec Baldwin win for 30 Rock just because people felt like he should win, while much more deserving people went home empty-handed?

Before the show even began though, I settled in to watch the Red Carpet special. Suffering through awkward interviews, jokes that fall-flat by Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic, and fashion insight from questionable sources is worth it just to see the amazing actors and celebrities walk the carpet. And, of course, there were some people who looked phenomenal, and others who did not. Want to see my list of the best and worst dressed? Follow the jump–
